One of many lighthouses that belong to the state of Maine.



This light was built n the northwest side of Franklin Island in 1807 to mark the entrance to Muscongus Bay. The light was automated in 1967 and the keeper's house and other outbuildings were demolished, but a white conical brick light tower still operates. You can view it by cruise or faintly from the Rachel Carson Salt Pond Preserve on Route 32.

Franklin Island National Wildlife Refuge is a National Wildlife Refuge on Franklin Island outside Muscongus Bay in the state of Maine.
