The Sterling Opera House is located in Derby, Connecticut. It was built in 1889 and was the first structure in Connecticut to be listed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1968. It was one of the first entertainment venues built in the area and hosted vaudeville legends, internationally renowned figures and historical theatrical premieres. It features had Italianate Victorian influences and the seating was influenced by a German Composer. In 1945, the Opera House ceased to host entertainment and was then used as city offices until the 1960's. Over the years, it is said to be "Haunted" by several different spirits including a victorian-era woman and child. Although, there are no known tragic stories stemming from the Opera House many Paranormal investigators have claim to have evidence of spiritual existence. Today, the Opera House is closed to the public, but has been renovated on the outside of hopes of one day being totally renovated. It is a beautiful building with much History.
