Very common bird to New England and many areas. Was first introduced in 1850 to Central Park, NYC from Europe. Actually not a true sparrow, but from the Weaver Finch family. A popular city bird that is usally in flocks. Feeds on insects, seeds, fruit and will come to feeders. Average size is about 6 inches. This particular female was hanging around in Rhode Island. Captured this image while on vacation.
